AS Physics: Measurement and Motion (9702)

9702 topics 1 and 2. Units, uncertainty and vectors, then motion read off a graph: the two topics every later paper quietly assumes you already own.

What you'll learn

  • Check an equation for homogeneity, and use that check to catch your own algebra
  • Combine uncertainties through a calculation instead of quoting the largest one
  • Resolve a vector and add vectors, including the relative-velocity case
  • Read a gradient and an area off a motion graph, and say what each one means physically
  • Solve a projectile by treating the two directions separately, which is where most marks are lost

Requirements

  • Able to rearrange an equation with several symbols in it
  • Comfortable with standard form, prefixes and significant figures
  • Basic trigonometry: sine and cosine of an angle in a right triangle
  • O Level Physics speed, distance and time is helpful but is re-derived here

Cambridge O Level, A Level and university courses, taught through interactive labs.

Mentora builds the sciences and mathematics as things you can move rather than videos you watch. Cambridge O Level and A Level mathematics, physics, chemistry and accounting, a primary mathematics track, and first-year university computer science. Every lesson works a real exam question end to end.
