What you'll learn

  • Use the accounting equation, and explain why every transaction keeps it level
  • Decide the debit and the credit for any transaction a 7707 paper can ask for
  • Write up the books of prime entry and post their totals to the ledger
  • Extract a trial balance, and say what it proves and what it cannot prove
  • Prepare an income statement and a statement of financial position in the correct format
  • Calculate depreciation by both methods, and adjust for accruals, prepayments and irrecoverable debts
  • Answer state, calculate, prepare and explain in the way an examiner expects

Requirements

  • O Level or Class 9 arithmetic, including percentages
  • No previous accounting is assumed
